In recent weeks, KCDOA has filed multiple ‘group’ grievances on behalf of all Detention Deputies. The first such grievance was filed after a comprehensive review of the KCDOA MOU, in which it was determined that there is no exclusion that prohibits shift differential from night shift overtime on 12 hour shifts.
After completing the full MOU grievance process, the Kern County CAO’s office ultimately rejected the grievance based primarily on ‘past practice’. As a result, your Board of Directors is considering what legal action may now be appropriate with the grievance process exhausted.
