Yesterday, your KCDOA/COPS contract negotiation team met with County Administrative Office staff and the agreed upon arbitrator for “fact finding”.
Both the negotiation teams made presentations to the arbitrator followed by a discussion of certain key issues which primarily focussed on the disputed need for employee contributions toward retirement and medical benefit costs for those more senior employees who do not currently pay toward one or both depending on their hire date.
At the conclusion of the meeting the arbitrator indicated that his report may be ready in approximately 30 days. Another update will be posted once the arbitrator’s report has been received. For additional information, please feel free to ask one of your negotiation team members.
